What happens to sponsored kids
As a part of our ongoing commitment to getting kids into school, we offer scholarships to those in need. It is your sponsorship money that provides the scholarships to these children.
You can choose a boy or girl and an approx. age group. If you choose to
you can make a selection from our photo gallery of the child you would
like to sponsor. As soon as the child is sponsored they will be placed into and in school within forty eight hours.The children you see in our gallery have all been identified as requiring urgent assistance, we have prior approval from the family and are working closely with the local school to place them in school as soon as we have a sponsor.
We
provide uniforms, books and educational materials for that child. If
the school asks for our assistance we will provide educational matter
for the benefit of all the students.Continual monitoring with teachers and parents will ensure the child is fed, healthy and happy. Doctors and dental treatment will be supplied for the sponserd child when and if needed.
The child is taught in the local schools, the teachers, lessons and religious content are all local. We do not influence or attempt to influence the school, child or family in their religious beliefs.
English will be taught by the schools and teachers are university trained.
Books
With No Borders is also currently sponsoring senior aged students in english
lessons. This will allow those students to gain employment as english
teachers within their own country.The ability to read and write english is a sought after asset in many third world countries.
What does it cost to sponsor a child?
For the cost of a few drinks you can save a kid.
24$ per month sponsors a child; that is the cost of four standard drinks.
What do you get as a sponsor
As a sponsor you will recieve confirmation the child has been placed in school, you will recieve a portrait and a class photo and individual updates of your child progress in the form of electronicly transmitted school reports.
We would expect you recieve at least two reports and two photos yearly.
We encourage you and your special child to communicate together.We are currently attempting to have installed a computer network as to allow real time contact, however at present, emails and written letters will be delivered.
Gifts for birthdays or special occasions can sometime be difficult to be recieved economically due to customs charges, however we will aid you in any way we can. Please contact us when you have any queries and we will do our best.
Can you visit your sponsored child?
Yes of course, we encourage a strong bond to be developed between you and your child, their family will accept you as one of their own.
Any visits must be pre arranged and all conduct must be above reproach, we will not allow or condone any innapropriate behaviour.
This does not prevent you from having a wonderfuly fullfilling bond with your child, and perhaps their family, you will find the Cambodians a very warm, loving, generous people.
